How Is an Inuit artist/carver able to consistently understand the vital spark of his subject’s soul?

This Inukshuk is an innanimate object and YET, Uttaq has the talent to anthropomorphize his subject and connect us to him through our emotion.

I see “Inukshuk” slowly marching across the remote Arctic plains. Alone but unfazed. His mission must be accomplished. He is above all else, “the stone man who points the way”.

Without ”Inukshuk”, many Arctic travellers will lose their way and risk freezing to death

This sculpture’s stubborn resolve brings us peace. We feel beschermd in his presence.
