“HIPPIAS” BROOCH
In swirling ivoor gold wire, set and stitched with small modern-cut round diamonds (H color, VS purity) and a drop of thirteen beautiful oval and round sapphires. These latter have a beautiful bright to intense color, weighing between approximately 0.80 ct for the largest (diameter: approximately 6.3 x 5.1 mm) and approximately 0.25 ct for the smallest.
French work (French eagle’s head hallmarks for 18k gold on the body of the jewel and on the pin).
Master goldsmith’s mark.
Around 1960.
Total weight of sapphires: approximately 4.5 cts.
Total weight of diamonds: approximately 0.50 ct.
Dimensions of the brooch: approximately 4 x 5 cm.
Gross weight: 18.9 g (18k gold – 750/1000)
